Emma joined the Port Authority of NSW in March 2016 as Chief Operating Officer Newcastle and Yamba where she has responsibility for port operations.
Prior to joining the Port Authority Emma worked in the harbour towage and stevedoring sectors of the maritime industry as the Human Resources and Industrial Relations Manager of Smit Lamnalco (Australia) Pty Ltd (formerly PB Towage Australia Pty Ltd) and Industrial Relations Manager of P&O Ports Ltd. From 2013 she was the Newcastle Operations Manager for Smit Lamnalco (Australia) Pty Ltd, a role she held since 2013. Here she was responsible for the start-up and operation of the Newcastle harbour towage business encompassing all aspects of safety, crewing, budget, industrial relations, compliance and stakeholder engagement.
Prior to her experience in the maritime industry she was employed with the Employers’ Federation of New South Wales as an Employee Relations Advisor providing industrial relations advice and acting as an advocate for member companies across a range of different industries.
In June 2016 Emma was appointed as a director on the Hunter Valley Coal Chain Coordinator Board and the Newcastle Branch of the Mission to Seaman.
Emma has completed a Bachelor of Business (University of Newcastle), MBA (AGSM) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
