Membership Levels
There are four Individual Membership levels to suit every stage of your career. Browse the levels below to see which one suits you. In addition to joining the Institute, you can apply to become a prestigious and globally recognised Chartered Manager.

AFFILIATE
This entry level category of non-professional Membership is designed especially for those aged between 18-25, or enrolled in an accredited degree as part of the University Partnership.

MEMBER
As a Professional Member you can enjoy access to our Member-focused newsletters, mentoring program, professional development and knowledge databases including Leadership Direct, EBSCO, and more.
If you meet the mandatory criteria and fulfil at least two of the optional criteria, you may be eligible to join at the Member grade and receive the post-nominals MIML.

Mandatory
- Applicants must be over 18 years of age
Optional
- Hold a university degree, diploma, or certificate qualification in management, business studies, or a discipline appropriate to your work
- Working towards or currently in a position of senior leadership
- Currently (or have been) in a management position
- Consult or coach for managers, leaders, or teams
- Hold volunteer experience at a leadership level
ASSOCIATE FELLOW
The grade of Associate Fellow is open to individuals who have expertise and achievement in, or contribution to, management and leadership.
If you meet the mandatory criteria and fulfil at least one of the optional criteria, you may be eligible to join at the Associate Fellow grade and receive the post-nominals AFIML.

Mandatory
- Applicants must be over 18 years of age
- Must be currently working or have worked in a management or leadership position such as Team Leader, Head of Business Unit, Store Manager, Project Manager, Business Manager, business owner, or similar with substantial management experience over time
Optional
- Hold a university degree, diploma, certificate qualification, or post-graduate qualification in management or business studies or a discipline appropriate to your work
- Consult or coach for managers, leaders, or teams
- Currently (or have been) in a senior management or leadership position
- Make (or have made) a significant contribution to management and leadership through research, thought leadership, policy, advocacy, or journalism
- A current business owner
- Hold extensive volunteer experience at a leadership level

FELLOW
The grade of Fellow is open to individuals who have an extensive record of proven expertise and achievement in, or contribution to management and leadership.
If you meet the mandatory criteria and fulfil at least three of the optional criteria, you may be eligible to join at the Fellow grade and receive the post-nominals FIML.

Mandatory
- Applicants must be over 18 years of age
- Must be currently working or have worked in a senior or C-level leadership position such as General Manager, CEO, Director, Department Head, senior executive, Financial Controller, Branch Manager, Associate Professor, Professor, or similar with substantial leadership experience over time
Optional
- Hold a tertiary degree, post-graduate qualification, or diploma in management or business studies or in a discipline appropriate to your work
- Report to (or have reported to) a Board
- Currently (or have been) in a position that makes decisions that affects the ultimate strategic direction or performance of the company, including setting the strategy and budgets
- Consult to or coach senior executives or large multi-disciplinary teams in an area of expertise with substantial experience
- Make (or have made) a significant contribution to management and leadership through research, thought leadership, policy, advocacy, or journalism
- Hold extensive volunteer experience at a senior leadership level
